Europe’s leading OEMs set sights on Romania

(Published October 2007) Large European OEMs in the automotive, food processing and construction industry are already finding their way to Romania, according to a report by the European plastics processors trade body, EuPC.

The report, produced in conjunction with the Romanian plastics industry association Asaplast, found there are around 600 plastics converting plants in Romania with a combined production capacity of 500,000 tonnes per year.

Film extrusion lines are the largest consumer of plastics in the country, followed by injection moulding and pipe and profile extrusion.

EU structural funds will become available in Romania by the end of the year, which will contribute to raise the overall competitiveness of the plastic industry and expose new investment opportunities.
